The Maintenance Worker assists with inspections, installs and repairs of bridges, boardwalks, shelters, sidewalks, buildings, bridge signs, shelters and other structures or related amenities.

The Maintenance Worker is an entry-level position within the Greenway structure crew. This position will support a crew of five staff in the maintenance activities of repairs throughout the City of Raleigh Parks System. At times this position may be directed to assist other crews and/or departments in cleanup efforts or maintenance repairs.
Work Hours:
This position is expected to work 7:00 am - 3:30 pm in the Fall/Winter/Spring and 6:00 am - 2:30 pm in the Summer.
- Safely operate various dump trucks, trailers, hand/power tools and standard maintenance equipment to complete daily assigned tasks that include concrete installation, equipment transportation, debris removal, demolition and erosion issue concerns
- Construction and repair of wood and concrete structures such as bridges, boardwalks, sidewalks, decks, benches, signs, shelters, and other facilities
- Job site cleaning and general parks grounds maintenance
- Assisting other internal crews with renovations and maintenance throughout the City of Raleigh's Park System and/or Greenway
- Clean up and repair efforts with other departments during emergency response or inclement weather events such as snow removal and tree debris from roadways
High School Diploma or GED and one year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to intense noise.
