We are searching for a part-time, temporary maintenance worker who takes pride in getting the job done right. You’ll be individually responsible for sidewalk and public space cleanliness, making a difference on the ground every Saturday and Sunday.
Primary duty of this part-time position (up to 1000 hours in a calendar year) includes use of broom and dustpan to manually remove litter and other waste throughout the Downtown area. Route coverage is tracked through a custom iPhone application on a City-provided device.

About Us:
Transportation Downtown Services’ core mission is to ensure Downtown Raleigh’s public spaces and right of way are clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing, providing a high level of customer service 7 days a week.
- Daily: Removing litter, small graffiti and stickers
- Occasional: Seasonal power washing, loose leaf collection, weeding, storm recovery efforts, and snow and ice removal
- This position may operate pickup trucks or other small equipment on a regular basis
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions and communicate with other team members
- Ability to walk up to ~10 miles daily, performing manual labor in all types of weather
- Familiarity with mobile devices and applications
- Ability to read maps and understand job assignments spatially
- Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices
- Commitment to on-time, consistent arrival on Saturday & Sunday
Salary : $18
