Job Description
This City of Raleigh is seeking a Temporary Maintenance Worker in our Stormwater Asset Management Inspections division. This position will assist with culvert inspections with the Structure Inspections Unit; use various manual tools such as ladders, rakes, shovels, tape measures, probing rod to perform assigned duties; perform related structure and pipe inspection work as required. This role may also be assigned other street maintenance related duties.

In this temporary role, a candidate will be able to assist crews with inspections, assist with groundwork, and be able to complete various assigned duties. This position is temporary but could lead to permanent employment if positions are available.
About Us:
Joining our Transportation Maintenance Division will provide an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the maintenance of critical infrastructure such as sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt, medians, and storm drains. As a member of our 218 person staff, you will contribute to maintenance of 1,130 miles of streets and sidewalks; the upkeep of over 33,000 curb ramps; and the protection of 3.2 million linear feet of stormwater pipes connecting more than 32,000 drainage inlets.
The Transportation Stormwater Asset Management Inspections Unit is responsible for performing daily inspections to trac conditions of the City’s stormwater assets. Stormwater assets are defined as pipes, drains, and structures of all sizes that make up the City’s stormwater system.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs unskilled or semi-skilled general maintenance
Selects proper maintenance tools and equipment for tasks
Performs work following established safety policies and procedures and applicable codes and regulations
May be required to work extended hours and/or weekends depending on volume of workload
This position will be required to operate pickup trucks and other small equipment on a daily basis
Typical Qualifications
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
