The primary objectives of this position are to provide a variety of responsible administrative support functions for the Community Development Department, specifically the Planning Division which consists of Planning, Code Enforcement, Rental Housing Licensing and Inspections, Recycling, and Forestry. This may include but is not limited to; providing excellent customer service to residents, contractors, staff and others; routing phone calls; attending city events, scheduling meetings, writing business letters and documents, and counter help at all of the Community Development windows, which includes Planning, Building Inspections and Economic Development divisions. The position reports to the Planning Manager.This is a full-time forty (40) hours per week AFSCME union position.The full 2025 Wage Scale: Step 1 - $27.382 -- Step 2 - $28.751 -- Step 3 - $30.120 -- Step 4 - $31.489 -- Step 5 - $32.858 -- Step 6 - $34.227/hour DOQThe City of Ramsey is an equal opportunity employer.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Must have a high school diploma or equivalentMust have at least three (3) years of related experience in a responsible administrative support position -- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredMust have at least one (1) year of previous customer service experienceMust have intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office knowledge and skillsMust be able to accurately type at least forty (40) words per minuteMust have data entry and data base management experienceMust have excellent written and verbal communication skillsDesired Qualifications: Possession of a valid state driver's license with a good driving recordPrevious experience working for a county or municipality, especially within Planning or Community DevelopmentAssociate degree in Business, Business, Industry & Technology, Administrative Specialist diploma or degree, or other additional applicable post-secondary training or educationExperience using Laserfiche or other document imaging softwareExperience working with public data (public, private, confidential, non-public/protected non-public data) and records retention requirementsMicrosoft Office Specialist certification
