Seasonal Maintenance Workers Make a Difference in Our Community Spring, Summer, and Fall!
Are you looking for a temporary position and like working outdoors? The City of Ramsey seeks hardworking and motivated individuals to join our team as Seasonal Maintenance Workers. This is your opportunity to contribute to the beauty, safety, and functionality of our streets, parks, trails, and facilities.
What You'll Do:
Maintain streets, park grounds, trails, buildings, and related facilities
Take on tasks like mowing, trimming, pruning, planting, and landscaping projects
Keep athletic fields in top shape and ensure public spaces stay clean and inviting by picking up trash
Assist with street and utilities maintenance, helping to keep our community running smoothly
What to Expect:
Temporary, non-union positions working up to 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday schedule, 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Positions begin in April or May and may extend through the fall months, depending on workload and availability under Minnesota Public Employment Labor Relations (PELRA) guidelines.
While these positions are temporary, they offer a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and make a visible impact on the community. Please note that there is no guarantee of further employment after the season concludes.

Successful applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Must be 17 years of age or older on your first day of employment
- Must possess a high school diploma, GED or be a current student
- Must have valid Minnesota driver's license in good standing
- Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Must have the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including cold or hot temperatures, high humidity, wind, or rain
- Must have the ability to finish work in a timely and efficient manner
- Must have the ability to get along with others including supervisors and coworkers
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working for a municipality or county
- Previous paid professional landscaping experience
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Mowing and trimming
- Planting trees, shrubs and flowers
- Pruning trees
- Maintaining athletic fields (baseball, softball, soccer) including field striping and dragging
- Irrigation systems
- Carpentry, painting and repair work
- Picking up trash from parks, trails, roadsides, etc.
- Operating equipment including mowers, weed-whips, saws, and use pruners and related tools
- Vehicle maintenance, including oil checks
- Street maintenance
- Utilities maintenance
- Other tasks and responsibilities (within the capabilities of the seasonal worker) as assigned by the designated supervisor or lead worker
- Experience mowing grass using push or ride-on equipment
- Knowledge of lawn mowers
- Experience with weed whips
- Experience with pruning equipment
- Experience with hand tools (pruners, shovels, hammers, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of carpentry and/or painting
Salary : $16
