The Solid Waste Operator II primarily operates in the Landfill but can be utilized in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and/or Collections as needed.

The Solid Waste Operator II primarily operates in the Landfill but can be utilized in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and/or Collections as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Solid Waste Operator II:
- Operates solid waste equipment such as front-end loader, forklift skid steer, roll-off truck, and/or yard waste processing equipment such as yard waste turner and compost sampling.
- Must perform duties to standard operations and safety defined by each appropriate equipment manufacturer and industry standards; reads and interprets appropriate instruction and/or construction plans.
- Performs basic maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Snow removal/sanding operations.
- Operates motor grader, scraper, semi-truck tractor, yard waste grinder, dozer, front-end loader, hydro seeder, and other landfill equipment as needed.
- When working in operations requiring grading and excavation, shall be capable of constructing to final grade.
- Assures all operations comply with all regulatory permit requirements and regulations.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years related experience and/or training.
- Must possess a valid South Dakota Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered.
