Position Details
About the Job:
As a Summer Camp Counselor, you’ll be leading children in a variety of fun and educational activities throughout the summer. From touring Rushmore Cave and swimming to exploring the Tram Way, every day will bring a new adventure! You’ll help create a safe, inclusive, and exciting environment where campers can make lifelong memories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Supervise and engage with campers in daily activities, field trips, and outdoor adventures.
- Lead games, arts & crafts, and team-building exercises.
- Ensure a safe, fun, and positive camp experience for all participants.
- Enforce health and safety regulations and camp policies.
- Assist with mealtimes, transitions, and camper check-in/check-out.
- Respond to emergencies and provide basic first aid when needed.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and camp facilities in an orderly condition.
- Work collaboratively with other staff to deliver an amazing camp experience.
- May be required to set up and tear down activities, transport campers, and complete daily reports.
Additional Information
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required.
- Energetic, responsible, and able to work well in a team.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (training may be provided).
- Ability to stay active, work outdoors, and engage with campers for extended periods.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Requires standing, walking, running, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs (occasionally up to 50 lbs).
- May work in various outdoor settings with exposure to summer weather conditions (heat, wind, rain, etc.).
- Noise levels can range from moderate to loud due to active camp programs.
