POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Relations Commission (HRC) Intake Specialist is the first point of contact for citizens who have complaints of discrimination. The Intake specialist collects relevant information about the complaint, completes a preliminary evaluation, explains the process to the complainant and determines the appropriate jurisdiction for the complaint.
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Explain the intake process to the complainant in understandable terms and provide relevant written materials.
- Collect and record all pertinent information from the potential complainant relating to the alleged acts of discrimination.
- Analyze the information to determine whether or not a formal complaint should be filed.
- Prepare formalized charges of discrimination and supporting documents in an efficient and concise manner.
- Prepare log of formalized charges and other data necessary for monthly reports.
- Maintains files, reports, and logbooks for the Commission Office.
- Provides administrative support, including but not limited to (process mail, answer telephone, handle complaints, and provide information as applicable.
- Order and maintain an inventory of supplies.
- Prepare bills and/or invoices for the Commission office.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalence
Experience
- Microsoft Office Suite experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access).
- Must type at 40 wpm with accuracy.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
