What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Systems Supervisor position at City of Redlands?
Under general direction, coordinates and supervises the City’s information technology daily operations including the support and administration of computer systems, computer security, disaster recovery, help desk services, and software/hardware license control. Exercises technical and functional supervision over technical staff.Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential functions require the following physical abilities and work environment:
- Assists in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities for assigned services, including computer security; Participates in the installation, inventory, and maintenance of computer hardware and software; supervises the maintenance and support services of computers, printers, and related peripheral equipment;
- Supervises, trains, selects, and evaluates assigned staff;
- Designs, consults, researches, develops, and implements new computer systems including hosted software solutions, backup systems, disaster recovery procedures and restoration of computer services;
- Identifies opportunities for service delivery improvements; analyzes and evaluates techniques for the implementation of new computer applications, hardware, and peripheral equipment;
- Conducts a variety of analytical and operational studies regarding departmental activities; evaluates alternatives, makes recommendations, and assists with the implementation of procedural, administrative, and/or operational changes for approval;
- Resolves complex problems with multi-user computers, printers, servers, software, peripherals, and other related equipment;
- Prepares a variety of reports and other correspondence as needed; and
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a closely related field. For degrees obtained outside of the U.S., an official equivalency evaluation is required. Additional experience may be substituted on a year for year basis, up to two years.
- A minimum of five years responsible professional experience in the administration of IT systems and server room management;
- Information technology supervisory experience.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment.
Essential functions require the following physical abilities and work environment:
- Ability to work on-site in the City of Redlands office;
- Ability to work in a standard office environment;
- Ability to use standard office equipment including a computer;
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, twist, crawl and lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.;
- Ability to travel to different sites and locations; and
- Ability to successfully complete a Police Department Background Investigation.
Salary : $94,558 - $120,751
