The City of Reedley is recruiting for one (1) Water System Specialist II position in the Public Works Department, Water Division.
The mission of the Public Works Department is to continually provide effective and efficient essential services to the public. The Water Division's part in this mission is the operation and maintenance of the City’s municipal water wells, over 98 miles of water distribution pipeline, 835 fire hydrants, over 6,000 water meters, three (3) water treatment facilities, fourteen (14) Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) filters and three (3) water storage towers, the City’s cross-connection control program, Underground Service Alert (USA) marking for wastewater, storm drain, and water infrastructure in addition to water quality control monitoring.

A Water Systems Specialist II works under general supervision and is expected to perform the entire range of water operation work. - Install, maintain, repair, calibrate, and test a wide variety of pneumatic and electronic recording, indicating, measuring, controlling, and test instruments including pressure regulators and gauges and chemical feeder controllers.
- Operate and maintain chlorination equipment including leak detection, changing chlorinator pumps, and adjusting feed rates in accordance with chlorine residual test results.
- Establish and perform preventive maintenance, inspections of all metering control instruments, recorders, and mechanical instrumentation equipment; check pumps and motors for vibration; check water tanks and pumps for leaks and wear; clean, lubricate, calibrate, and adjust such equipment as conditions indicate.
- Collect water samples; test water for chlorine residuals.
- Maintain records of water pressure and water flow readings; monitor air level of surge tanks; adjust as necessary.
- Operate a variety of vehicles, tools, and equipment including cement saws, trucks, backhoes, trenchers, compressors, forklifts, pipe tapping devices, electronic pipe detectors, electronic leak detectors, and various hand tools required for carpentry, plumbing, concrete, asphalt, landscaping, and maintenance duties.

- Remove and restore asphalt streets as needed.
- Install shoring materials in excavated areas.
- Paint, weed, and maintain city well sites as needed.
- Assist Water Division personnel as needed.
- Place traffic control and warning signs; serve as flagman, set up and take down traffic cones, barricades, and lights.
