What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Cashier position at City of Richfield, MN?
Under general supervision of Facility Manager, reporting directly to the Pool Supervisor, ensures that a clean and safe environment is provided for patrons. Monitors pool activities, enforces rules, takes action to correct unacceptable behavior and assists patrons. Prepares and serves concession products to the general public, processes season passes and collects money.
HOURS
The pool will be open June 6 – August 20, 2025. Hours will vary, 28-40 hours per week. Schedule includes days and evenings Monday through Sunday. This position is seasonal in nature and therefore is a temporary position.
Overtime is paid for all hours worked more than 48 per workweek.
SEASONAL INCENTIVE
A $100 completion incentive at the end of the season will be awarded to employees who have a successful season and complete at least a 100 hours of work.
Essential Duties
- Assist in admitting patrons into facility, greeting groups and explaining rules. Establish good rapport with both patrons and fellow staff. Treat all patrons fair and equally.
- Answer telephone, provide information and perform public relations.
- Monitor waterslide riders.
- Know, obey, and enforce pool rules, policies and procedures.
- Perform facility opening and closing procedures.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages in a sanitary manner. Obey health codes and keep food protected.
- Maintain product supplies and minimize waste. Re-stock and rotate product.
- Complete transactions through cash register, collect money and give correct change. Operate credit card machine. Follow proper money handling procedures.
- Keep records and accurately complete daily reports.
- Perform daily custodial duties to keep facility clean and safe.
- Attend orientation, staff and planning meetings.
- Work scheduled shifts; arrive on time ready to work.

- Must be 15 years of age or older.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Customer service, cashier/money handling, and food prep experience.
- Fluency in Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese or other non-English language prevalent in the City of Richfield
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed within a public swimming pool environment. Requires ability to work in the heat and sun. Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for considerable physical activity.
The physical demands that are described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Must have the ability to:
- Stand, walk, kneel, sit, crouch, twist, push, pull, bend, stoop, squat and lift materials and supplies ranging from 20-60 lbs. Must also possess the mobility to work in a concession stand.
- Vision and hearing must be sufficient to see and hear adults and children in crowded and noisy conditions. Hearing and speech to communicate in person or by telephone.
- Finger dexterity to enter data using a cash register.
