The purpose of the Family Engagement and Solutions Program is to provide family-centered case management support and therapeutic services to multi-challenged youth and their families who have had justice involvement. The Clinician will promote positive family relationships, strengthen protective factors, and reduce the likelihood of future involvement with the justice system, breaking the cycle of generational incarceration. The program utilizes a strength-based approach to empower youth and family members to leverage existing support systems and resources within their homes, schools, and communities. Through community-based activities and parent training, the program aims to enhance the well-being of youth and their families while ensuring public safety, reducing recidivism, and preventing juvenile delinquency and adult criminal behavior.
The individual in this role must be passionate in caring for our community’s most vulnerable children & families and continually improving the system which supports their healing and growth. The Clinician II will be a vital support for their own clients while also working to support a clinical team who serve a diverse set of community members presenting with mental health support needs, a variety of stressors, and various concerns. This position provides an opportunity to affect change in the lives of children at an historic organization dedicated to the highest quality of care. The incumbent must be passionate in caring for our community’s most vulnerable children through partnerships with other institutions who also value their healing and growth. The Clinician II will be proactive and experienced in the delivery of quality therapy services known to be effective with children.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to see; balance; stand; walk; lift objects from a lower to a higher position; move objects horizontally from position to position; reach extending arms and hands; and use hands, wrist, or fingers in a repetitive motion. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

- Family-centered case management support
- Therapeutic services for youth and families
- Community-based activities and events
- Parent training and educations
- Referrals to necessary resources and services
- Conduct patient assessments and diagnoses
- Develop and implement patient treatment plans
- Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans
- Provide direct patient care, including physical examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, physicians, and therapists, to ensure optimal patient care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding their health conditions and treatment options
- Conduct research to stay updated on the latest treatments and healthcare practices
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards
- Refer patients to specialists when needed
- Schedule- 40-hour week, Typically Monday-Friday, including at least two evenings per week to meet scheduling needs of clients. Occasional weekend hours may occur and vary due to community-based activities being scheduled at various times throughout the year.
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, Social Services preferred.
- Three years of human services or social casework paraprofessional experience
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.
- Must hold an active license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia (i.e. LCSW, LMFT, LPC).
- At least one year of experience providing individual direct therapy in a clinical outpatient setting.
- A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire
- A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to pass Child Protective Services Background
- Check Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening
