SUMMARY: Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled and complex skilled work in the operation of equipment, machinery and tools used in collection and disposal of solid waste.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operates effectively all equipment such as sanitation trucks, large front-end loader, backhoe, and other equipment used in collection and disposal of solid waste. Responds to emergency calls as required. Checks and services assigned equipment; performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs; reports mechanical problems for shop repair. Trains less experienced personnel in the care of and operation of assigned equipment. Assists other departments as directed. Performs any one of the duties typical of a laborer position. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Exercises supervision over personnel as assigned. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under general supervision of a working foreman.

OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of equipment operating principles and practices; skill in the operation of assigned equipment; ability to perform minor maintenance functions; ability to learn and follow standard safety practices and procedures common to equipment operation. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Wyoming Commercial Driver's License of the required status; ability to be insured under the City's municipal automobile insurance coverage; must be at least 18 years of age. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
