The City of Riviera Beach, Florida ("the City") was originally incorporated in 1922. It is located in the east-central portion of Palm Beach County, approximately five miles north of West Palm Beach and 70 miles north of Miami. The City has 12 parks, providing among its facilities, swimming pools, ball fields, fitness trails, racquetball, basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, splash pads, two amphitheaters, and an aquatics complex. Peanut Island, a spoil island in the Intracoastal Waterway which runs through the City, is a popular destination for recreational boaters. The City is in close proximity to several attractions including the Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park, Rapids Water Park, Lion Country Safari, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Norton Museum of Art, Henry Flagler Museum, and Manatee Lagoon.
