The City of Roanoke is seeking a OPE Maintenance Operations Supervisor who is devoted to providing repair and maintenance of mowing, specialized equipment, and related systems. Incumbents serve as a first level supervisor of Ope staff. Work may include supervising and guiding employees in the repair and maintenance of light and heavy duty mowers, tractors and other specialized equipment; evaluating repair requests and making assignments; reviewing and verifying completion of work orders; ensuring safety standards, policies and procedures are met; arranging warranty repairs with vendors; reconciling purchases and parts orders with appropriate charge accounts and work orders; and identifying needed training and/or equipment. SUMMARY Performs difficult skilled work in supervision of a number of crews engaged in maintenance or construction projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Oversees and delegates field supervisionEnsures project conformance to work plans and ordersMonitors internal projects and outside contractors for conformance to set standards and proceduresCoordinates and schedules equipment and work flow for maximum efficiencyWorks with other City departments, business, agencies, and other governments concerning joint projectsAccounts for department inventory and ensures preventative maintenance of equipmentProvides training and instruction to subordinates as requiredPrepares and submits detailed reports and recordsAssists in the preparation of the department budget Works on the project site and gives advice and assistance to crewReceives and handles complaints and accident reportsMay operate heavy and light equipment in snow removalAssumes duties of Maintenance Superintendent as neededMay be required to wear some type of respiratory protection in the performance of their dutiesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises several skilled and unskilled crews engaged in maintenance and construction operations within assigned department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
