Tennis Center Attendant
(Seasonal Opportunity)

The City of Rochester, Minnesota (pop. 115,000 ) Park and Recreation Department provides a variety of leisure time opportunities for people to enjoy and manages more than 4100 acres of park land including 4 golf courses, over 100 individual parks and 85 miles of paved trails.
The Outdoor Tennis Center, located at Kutzky Park, contains 14 hard courts. Seasonal memberships are available along with guest fees for non-members. The clubhouse is open from mid-May to mid-September. Membership includes court fees and reservation privileges. Special events and tournaments are also held throughout the summer.
Nature of Work
This is a temporary/seasonal/limited appointment position that oversees patron activities at the Outdoor Tennis Center to ensure that the facility is clean, orderly, properly maintained and safe. This position must be able to interact with the public in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
Work Schedule:
Positions are available for the Outdoor Tennis Center from approximately mid-May through mid-September. Work schedules vary and include weekends and early morning/evening hours.
Pay Rate:
$13.66 - $16.81 per hour, depending on qualifications/experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The work below is representative of the scope of work performed within this job classification. Individual job duties will vary based on work assignment.
- Open/close facility
- Greet and check in patrons
- Collect appropriate fee from patrons
- Securely maintain money box β assure correct amount of money available for each day
- Prepare deposit bag to deposit the money collected from each day's transactions
- Fill out daily summary sheets
- Provide general oversight of facility
- Properly fill out injury paperwork, if necessary
- Clean/pickup tennis court areas and bathrooms as needed during open times and at end of shift
- Restock supplies
- Answer questions and assist patrons during open times
- Clean/pickup play area and bathrooms at end of day
- Close/lock facility
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Have the ability to deal professionally and tactfully with the public

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of: cash register operation.
Skill in: providing excellent customer service.
Ability to: calculate fees and provide change; deal tactfully with the general public in person and on the phone; and understand and carry out oral and written assignments.
