The City of Rochester Police Department is accepting applications for a full-time Communications Specialist/Dispatcher. Specialists receive all emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance from the public; operates multi-frequency radio consoles, retrieves data from multiple sources; handles City Police/Fire and EMS information in various communications media.
Candidate should have a high school diploma or the equivalent with excellent customer service skills. Must have the ability to perform all job functions under emergency conditions; capable of operating various computer equipment and electronic business equipment, ability to respond to emergency call-back in a timely manner.
CCOM FY25 pay range $21.48 to $29.59/hour dependent upon qualifications and experience with competitive benefits. Pre-employment testing to include criminal background, medical & drug screen.
Communications Specialists/Dispatchers work in shifts (day, evening, or midnight shifts). Each dispatcher has a minimum of 2 consecutive days off per 40 hour work week. Shift assignment is based on seniority and are in place for 4 months at a time. Employees working the evening or midnight shift earn a $1.50 per hour shift differential.
