What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at City of Rochester?
Come join the City of Rochester Animal Services as a Veterinary Technician! This position is responsible for performing tasks to assist and support veterinarians with a variety of animal health activities. If you're passionate about a career in Animal Health, this is the position for you!
City Residency will be required within one year of hire.
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications listed below:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent; PLUS
- Two (2) years experience working as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at an animal hospital, animal shelter, or related organization. Work experience must include administering anesthesia and performing surgical procedures.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
(All licenses and certificates must be maintained throughout employment with this job)
- Possession of a valid Veterinary Technology License issued by the NYS Education Department's Division of Professional Licensing Services.
- Possession of a valid New York State Class D driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Please note that if you are interested in this position and possess a valid Veterinary Technology License, but do not have two years of qualifying experience, we may be able to hire a candidate as a "Vet Tech Trainee." Vet Tech Trainees would work in the role for 2 years and, upon successfully completing the traineeship, be promoted to a Veterinary Technician.
