DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
- Performs routine work score-keeping for youth sports leagues, tournaments, and special events; does related work as required.
- Employees in this class function as support staff for Athletics Program Specialists and Site Supervisors. They represent the department and should be able to respond to the public inquires.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Keeps score for youth sports leagues, keeping a scorebook and running a scoreboard.
- Assist in setting up gyms and fields for league play.
- Assist with special programs, which may involve decorating, hosting and cleaning up after events.
- Assist the main office with clerical duties, answering the phone, assisting customers, and other miscellaneous tasks.
- Fill out accident report forms incident report forms.
- Fill out results forms and playing timesheets.
- Communicates issues and problems to the Recreation Site Manager, full-time recreation staff, and emergency personnel.
- Enforces City of Rocky Mount policies.
- Provides routine information on departmental policies, procedures, and services.
- Perform other job-related tasks as required.
- Work assignment locations will vary. Facilities are located throughout the City of Rocky Mount.
- The position normally involves 5-20 hours per week (seasonal); Must be available evenings and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicant must have knowledge of or be able to gain knowledge of rules for baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and football.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the city employees and the general public
- The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Some experience in community or group recreation activities in athletics, as a scorekeeper or participant. Must be at least 16 years of age.
Regular part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees are not eligible for benefits.
