SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Technology Services Director, provides front line user and systems support for the Technology Services Department, providing support for all City departments and locations.
Areas of responsibility include desktop and laptop hardware, software, and basic networking support, end-user support for common user account and software issues, inventory, documentation, and trouble-ticket entry and resolution or escalation (maintenance), and VoIP and mobile phone support. The position works primarily out of City Hall and the Romulus Police Department, but may require travel to other City buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist with intake of requests into trouble-ticketing system.
2. Document actions taken when working on trouble tickets.
3. Provide prompt, accurate, and courteous resolution/escalation for all support issues.
4. Provide support for Windows installations and applications for the entire City of Romulus.
5. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.management/administration of recurring problems or issues with hardware/software and establish guidelines for resolution.
6. Assist with moves, additions, and changes of hardware such as computers, monitors, printers, and other equipment.
7. Assist with Windows system rollouts such as hardware/operating system updates, software package installations, system images, and security patches.
8. Assist with basic user account creation, changes, archiving, and deletion.
9. Assist with validating user credentials and resetting account passwords.
10. Develop training guides, manuals, and how-to documents for dissemination to users.
11. Assist to identify and suggest for removal any technology equipment from service and assist with the proper disposal/asset recovery of those systems.
12. Assist to maintain and update the City of Romulus Technology Services hardware and software inventory.
13. Assist with mobile technology support for laptops, tablets, cell phones, and in-vehicle communications.
14. Assist with supporting security camera and access control systems.
15. Assist with basic telephone systems configuration and support.
16. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: BA/BS degree (or equivalent experience). Will also consider any candidate without a degree but possessing the necessary skills and demonstrating a track record of career-based achievement.
Experience: Requirements include experience in supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office suite of software.
Experience with basic networking protocols.
Experience working with a variety of cell phone types and operating systems.
Experience working with security cameras and access control systems strongly recommended.
Experience working with VoIP or similar telephone systems strongly recommended.
Experience pulling and terminating network cables, and configuration of network switches and port security is strongly recommended.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license. Must be appropriately licensed to operate City-owned vehicles consistent with work assignment.
