What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Skate School Instructor I position at City of Roseville?
- Instructs basic skills skating lessons according to the guidelines of the Learn to Skate program
- Displays and communicates general knowledge of ISI policies and procedures and Roseville Skating Center Skate School program offerings
- Demonstrate exemplary conduct and maintain a professional demeanor, ensuring appropriate and respectful behavior when interacting with you participants in the Roseville Skate School program
- Provide suggestions for proper skill level placement for basic skills classes
- Assist with student control/management on and off the ice to ensure safety of all patrons
- Establish a good public relations with public, skate school participants, families and fellow instructors
- Assist with annual ice show (winter session only), leading/teaching numbers, assisting with coordination and flow during rehearsals and performances
- Continually shows respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibits sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Participated in group lessons with either a skate school or established club and passed the level of ISI Freestyle 3 or equivalent
- 1-2 years teaching experience in a group setting or equivalent
- Ability to teach students from Tots – Delta levels, according to ISI standards
- Communicate orally and in writing and to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Is punctual, reliable and dependable in regards to work schedule
- Must have concussion training certificate by the first day (provided by the City of Roseville or current certification must be submitted)
Most work is performed in an indoor ice arena environment, with majority of the shift on the ice surface. The position requires attendance at evening and weekend programs and events.
Limited lifting of 20-50 pounds or less is required less than 20% of the time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a cold environment and exposed to colder and slippery conditions.
