Summary
Seasonal Recreation Program Leads will assist in the development and organization of Roseville Parks and Recreation summer programs and provide onsite leadership to program staff to promote fun, enjoyment, health and safety of participants of all ages. Job assignments may include full day recreation program, part day recreation program, sports instruction, puppeteer, pre-school instruction, nature center programs, teen leadership program and special events. Job assignments are based on interest, ability, and availability.
This position is seasonal and works under the readily available supervision of the Seasonal Recreation Coordinator and Recreation Supervisor. Seasonal Recreation Program Leads oversee the assigned program at all times, maintain constant surveillance, and keep all participants within designated activity area and in view at all times. Seasonal Recreation Program Leads develop, initiate, lead and participate in games, sports, projects, stories and activities during program time while modifying activities to meet specific characteristics of age, group and ability level. This position has continuous public contact requiring tact, courtesy and good judgment.
Lead positions include the following : Summer Spectacular Lead, Passport to Play Lead, Play Pals Lead, Playground Games Galore Lead, Puppet Wagon Lead and Sports Lead.
Essential Duties Responsibilities

- Provide onsite leadership and work direction to program staff on implementation of camp or program.
- Lead, delegate and assist in program set-up, tear down, and implementation of all program activities.
- Collaborate with Seasonal Recreation Coordinator in program planning (crafts, games, drills etc.) and implementation of the assigned recreation program.
- Follow theme-based activities in a fun environment.
- Greet participants and parents and provide daily onsite communication.
- Responsible for organizing and maintaining all program equipment, supplies and program areas.
- Provides a safe environment for participants and enforces established safety policies and follows appropriate safety procedures.
- Some programs may require lead staff to drive a city vehicle such as a truck or 12 seat van.
- Execute first aid and emergency procedures as needed and complete appropriate reports.
- Attend and participate in staff training, assigned program and operation meetings- provide input and updates on programs, events and services.
- Continually shows respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibits sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community.

Roseville Parks and Recreation Program Lead generally work outside at the parks or inside the park buildings. The position requires high attention to detail or deadlines 45-70% of the time and moderate physical effort of moving up to 15 pounds 25% of the time. Lead position schedules vary based on program hours and needs. Hours range from 10-35 hours per week.
Limited lifting of 25 pounds or less is required less than 15% of the time.
The Recreation Program Lead is responsible for varied technical, complex, and confidential functions, many of which have deadlines and require significant attention to detail.
Activities that occur constantly (5-8 hours / shift) : walking, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and grasping.
This position is not eligible for Benefits with the City of Roseville.
