Position Overview: Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, works the front desk to provide assistance to Community Centre patrons. Assists with special events; performs related duties as assigned.
This is a part-time position with varying hours. Responsible for greeting the public; answers the telephone and provides information; distributes and collects athletic equipment; takes facility reservations and maintains a schedule log. Ensures policies and procedures are followed at all times; handles emergencies if they develop. May set up athletic, audio/video equipment and tables/chairs; performs custodial tasks; reports larger maintenance problems. Monitors grounds and facilities to insure proper usage is maintained. Monitors and cleans facilities during scheduled programs. Provides excellent customer service by responding to customers' questions and needs. Inputs and retrieves computer data; assures adequacy of desk supplies and equipment inventory; collects monies; prepares receipts and cash reports. Registers citizens using RecTrac software ensuring necessary paperwork is completed and filed, entering information into a computer system and accepting payments. Works special events as assigned. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Six months public contact experience required.
Ability to communicate with general public and city staff. Ability to use a computer. Some knowledge of record keeping and general office procedures. Ability to maintain customer focus in difficult situations. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays depending on scheduled programs. Certification in First Aid, CPR, Automated External Defibrillator or completion of certification within six months of employment.
