Reviews the physical, developmental, and socioeconomic characteristics of areas for the development of plans, and meets with citizens, developers, and other interested parties to establish priorities for the development of these areas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Conduct research, analyze data and generate policy recommendations and/or planning solutions for a wide variety of issues related to city government.Assist the general public with development questions and/or explain the intent and scope of a proposed development. Investigate and respond to citizen questions or complaints relating to zoning or land use issues.Present information and/or reports to various committees, the Planning Commission and City Council.Manage long range planning related projects such as Development Code amendments, City Plan updates, City Master Plan, etc.Write comprehensive reports and memos related to long range planning issues, city code development, strategic planning projects and other city policies.Communicate effectively with diverse members of the public and elected and appointed officials.Responsible for facilitating meetings and representing the City at assigned board or commission meetings.Conduct site inspections to ensure development has occurred in accordance with approved plans.Write and prepare lifecycle and cost/benefit analysis on subjects related to sustainability and other city policies.Write and prepare grant proposals for a wide array of projects for various City Departments and Divisions.Write and prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) for a variety of City projects that require outside consultant's expertise.Work with various City Departments and Divisions on projects that require research, analysis and policy recommendations such as master plans and technical manuals.Provide editing expertise for documents and policies developed by other Departments or Divisions of the City.Create urban design development scenarios and graphics for neighborhood plans and urban development projects initiated by the City.Utilize GIS for geo-spatial analysis and mapping on a variety of projects such as urban design scenarios, socio-economic indicators, zoning overlay districts, transportation analysis, etc.Assist with the evaluation of rezonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, permits, variances, or other proposals.Support efforts of the client to resolve questions or issues involving planning projects or information shared with the public.Conducts field evaluations and assessments
