We are hiring Office Assistant II positions in our , Parks and Recreation Department, Planning and Economic Development, and Police Department.

Parks and Recreation Department

Duties

Hours and duties may vary depending on the assignment, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Occasionally, part-time is available. Here's what you can expect to do:

  • Review paperwork for accuracy, requesting missing documents, and data entryÂ
  • Assist with preparation for and at special events
  • Perform duties at a community center or other front desk
  • Welcome guests, answer phones, enter activities in Rec Trac
  • Schedule room reservations
  • Register community members for activities and support the admin needs of the building

Planning and Economic Development

The positions typically work 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Effective April 1, 2025, our department will transition to working 3-days in-office. Here's what you can expect to do:

  • Provide routine customer service, interacting with the public in-person, over the phone, and electronically
  • Perform data entry tasks
  • Keeping an inventory of office supplies and ordering new materials as needed
  • Sorting and sending mail
  • Scheduling meetings and sending meeting invites to attendees
  • Maintaining files
  • Welcoming visitors to the office

Police Department:Â The positions typically work 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please add any information that is relevant for the position. Here's what you can expect to do:

  • Provide routine customer service, interacting with the public in-person, over the phone, and electronically
  • Perform data entry tasks
  • Receive permit applications
  • Handle customer inquiries by phone
  • Provide clerical support for the Records Unit

High school diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) and two years of clerical/administrative experience.

Two years of post high school education can be substituted for the two years of clerical/administrative experience if the curriculum included course work related to the work performed by the Office or Executive Assistant classes.

The Qualifications Rating is an assessment of your completed application, answers to the Supplemental Questionnaire. Open Job Posting: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements.Â

Eligible Lists Created from Open Job Posting:Â You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Non-promotion eligible lists typically are pass/fail and promotion eligible lists are typically ranked. If the open eligible list created contains a veteran, one open list will exist. When there are no veterans remaining on the eligible list (i.e. hired, withdrawn) from an open list that also contains promotional candidates, two lists will be created: one open list and one promotion list. If two lists exist, the promotion list must be exhausted before the open list is considered.Â

Final Selection Process: Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method. Â

Pre-Employment Screening: This position may require a drug test, credit check, or background check which includes criminal history, and employment history as a condition of employment. Candidates will be required to submit proof of education to Human Resources upon conditional job offer, if qualifying based on education. Â
