What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at City of Saint Paul?
Join us! The City of St. Paul Public Works Department is hiring a painter. This position work from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Public Works location of 899 Dale St N, St Paul, MN 55103. Hours may vary occasionally based on seasonal needs.
Here's what you can expect to do in the role:
- Painting Work: Performs tasks such as staining, varnishing, finishing, lacquering, enameling, and calcimining on both the exterior and interior surfaces of buildings.
- Paint Mixing: Mixes a variety of materials, including paints, sizes, varnishes, enamels, lacquers, varnish removers, silk screen inks, and clear coats to achieve desired finishes.
- Surface Preparation: Prepares surfaces for painting by sanding, brushing, or using steel wool. Removes old paint using tools such as paint remover, scrapers, wire brushes, blowtorches, sandblasters, or water blasters.
- Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks in Right of Way under various traffic conditions.

High School Diploma and possession of a certificate evidencing the completion of training as an apprentice painter or four (4) years of experience as a journey-level painter.
Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
Must have industrial experience in areas such as sandblasters/water blasters, enamels, epoxies, zinc oxides, blast tips, and proper removal of lead paint.
