What are the responsibilities and job description for the MAINTENANCE WORKER (WATER DISTRIBUTION) position at City of San Angelo Texas?
Position will be open until filled.
We are currently seeking:
A maintenance worker to join our team and perform unskilled general labor and maintenance work for W/W Collections and Water Distribution in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating a variety of specialized equipment and performing general manual labor tasks. Duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills and responds to emergencies as needed.
- Digging and filling holes and ditches with a shovel around pipes and underground utilities.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
- Assisting in the repair of leaks; around damaged pipes to prepare for repair clamps.
- Assisting in installing tap saddles and valves.
- Assisting in repairs and installing fire hydrants.
- Cleaning, picking up litter, trash, and debris from grounds.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. This is an on-call position which can include weekends and holidays.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid driver license with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
- The selected applicant will be required to obtain a Class D Water License within one year of hire as condition of employment.
Required Knowledge of:
- City policies and procedures.
- City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed outdoors.
- Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 113 pounds.
