What are the responsibilities and job description for the METER SERVICE FIELD TECHNICIAN (WATER DISTRIBUTION) position at City of San Angelo Texas?
Position will be open until filled.
We are currently seeking: A meter service field technician to join our team and, under general supervision, report any violations of policy and regulations governing utility consumption, utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed, report problems and emergency situations, operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Troubleshooting and replacing damaged and defective water utility meters.
- Determining causes and correcting problems associated with dead meters.
- Checking for water leaks and damage around meter and meter box.
- Keeping meter box and valve areas clean and unobstructed by cleaning overgrowth and debris.
- Checking that meters are registering properly and verifying irregular meter readings.
- Identifying and reporting mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
- Completing daily log work.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm., hours may vary. This is an on-call position to include weekends and holidays.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have one year field experience in performing the work above.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- A valid driver license with a good driving record is required.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work performed outdoors and will include extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time. Ability to work in a confined area and able to withstand constant vibrations from equipment.
- Ability to climb in and out of trenches and to maneuver in uneven and rough terrain.
- Ability to lift 56 lbs.
