What are the responsibilities and job description for the SENIOR MAINTENANCE WORKER (AREA FACILITIES) position at City of San Angelo Texas?

We are currently seeking:
A senior maintenance worker to join our team and perform unskilled general labor and maintenance work for City parks, streets, facilities and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- The development and maintenance of park areas.
- Working with a crew responsible for daily facility maintenance in parks, sports fields, highway medians, and other City-owned properties.
- Leading the crew members in the absence of the Crew Leader.
- Assisting Crew Leader with daily route scheduling, maintaining proper inventory of tools/supplies, inspections of facilities, and training of subordinates.
- May assist Supervisor/Coordinator and Crew Leader with weekend and holiday area route scheduling.
- Cleaning public restrooms, picking up litter, removing graffiti, inspecting playgrounds, and collecting trash from assigned areas. Inspecting Park facilities for vandalism and submitting reports in writing on a daily basis.
- Performing landscaping duties such as mowing, weed eating, tree removal and/or pruning. Performing gardening duties such as planting and weeding of flower beds. May make minor repairs such as painting, light carpentry, and minor plumbing.
- May spray herbicides or pesticides to control weeds, insects, or diseases in trees, flower beds, and / or lawn areas. May assist in installing and/or repairing irrigations systems and water lines, signage, playground equipment and other park amenities.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment and performing general manual labor tasks in order to maintain parks, streets, infrastructure and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responds to emergencies as needed.
- Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
- Assisting in the repair and maintenance of parks and roadways; maintaining landscaping and grounds; clearing trash, brush, weeds and debris from roadways, structures, grounds and facilities.
- Cleaning and maintaining City facilities; making minor facility repairs; assisting with the construction of new facilities and installation of equipment.
- Cleaning and storing hazardous materials according to City policy and procedures.
- Periodically providing some over-time and services on weekends and holidays.
- Hours: Monday thru Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm to include some weekends and holidays, (30 minute lunch).
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND prefer two years of general work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed outdoors.
- Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time; to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 117 pounds.
