What are the responsibilities and job description for the SENIOR MAINTENANCE WORKER (Landscape–PARKS) position at City of San Angelo Texas?

We are currently seeking:
A senior maintenance worker to join our team and, under general supervision, perform unskilled general labor and maintenance work for City parks, streets, facilities and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working on a park's landscape maintenance crew made up of two or more employees.
- In the absence of the Crew Leader, leading/supervising the crew members and taking on the responsibility for the overall maintenance of the parks including such areas as turfgrass, playgrounds, parking lots, sand volleyball courts, buildings/structures, fences, equipment, etc.
- Operating and maintaining various equipment such as rotary and/or reel mowers, tractors, skid steers, weed-eaters, trimmers, chain and pole saws, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning shears, truck, trailer, blower, and other equipment involved in the maintenance of assigned areas.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of parks and sports field areas performing duties such as pesticide and fertilizer applications, aerification of turfgrass, mowing, string trimming, picking up trash, building maintenance, fence installation/removal, edging, planting, tree pruning, tree removal, weeding flower beds, applying water to lawn area and flower beds, pruning trees, infield clay maintenance, etc.
- May assist in the installation of sprinkler systems and perform irrigation repairs.
- Position includes light construction, application of various pesticides, and other related/assigned duties as required.
- Operating a variety of specialized equipment and performing general manual labor tasks in order to maintain parks, streets, infrastructure and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responding to emergencies as needed.
- Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
- Assisting in the repair and maintenance of parks and roadways; maintaining landscaping and grounds; clearing trash, brush, weeds and debris from roadways, structures, grounds and facilities.
- Cleaning and maintaining City facilities; making minor facility repairs; assisting with the construction of new facilities and installation of equipment.
- Cleaning and storing hazardous materials according to City policy and procedures.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm to include some over-time, weekends and holidays, (30-minute lunch).

Requirements and Skills:
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Skilled in operating various tools and machines used in ground maintenance work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent; and two years of general work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed outdoors.
- Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time; work in extreme weather conditions.
- Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 117 pounds.
