Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.DEFINITIONThe City of San Juan Capistrano is seeking motivated individuals to join its vital and effective team of Park/Facility Monitors in the Public Works and Community Services Department. This part-time position provides support to a variety of the City's exciting community activities, programs, and special events, as well as facility and park maintenance, rentals, and parking operations. The position is assigned up to 19 hours per week and must be available to work a schedule that may include evening, day, weekend, and holiday hours.Apply Now to join the City of San Juan Capistrano team! Note: the pay range for this position will increase 3.0% effective 07/01/2025 to $17.38 - $21.12 hourly. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISEDReceives general supervision from higher level staff and lead direction from a Community Services Coordinator.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Participates in preparing facilities for use by the public including setting up tables, chairs, podiums, sound systems, scoreboards and/or other types of equipment.Opens and closes City operated buildings and facilities used for meetings, classes, sporting activities, weddings, and various other functions; including open space parks.Monitors and ensures public compliance with facility, gymnasium and park rules and regulations.Provides exceptional customer service and guidance to the public relating to public parking locations.May monitor and assist in enforcing compliance within the City's monetized parking lots.Inspects and participates in maintaining park grounds, athletic fields and restrooms including emptying trash cans and cleaning restrooms. Performing minor repairs to park fixtures and equipment.Participates in and assists in setting up a variety of City sponsored special events including parades, concerts and holiday activities.Picks up and delivers departmental supplies including trash bags, paper products, tools, equipment, and/or City banners.Designs and builds departmental fixtures including podiums and shelves as assigned.Monitors and maintains inventory count of Community Services furniture and equipment including tables and chairs; cleans and performs minor repairs to equipment as required.Conducts monthly inspections of Community Center vehicles and reports maintenance requirements to Public Works Department as assigned.Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: One year experience in facility maintenance, recreation or related field.Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.Licenses or Certifications: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver's license. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification.
