Assists the Horticultural Specialist in maintaining public garden beds.

Effective verbal and written communication skills are required; must be able to maintain positive working relationships with City departments and personnel, outside agencies, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include lifting up to 75 pounds frequently. Subject to standing, walking, vision, hearing and talking frequently; lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing and foot controls occasionally; sitting and crawling rarely.
Working conditions involve exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions, machinery with moving parts, hazardous materials/chemicals; utilizes personal protective equipment as necessary.

Essential Functions And Decision Making
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Removes graffiti on public property by utilizing graffiti removal solutions and paint-over techniques within a 48-hour time-frame. Removes graffiti and stickers on private property upon request. Records and reports all graffiti removed. Maintains appropriate inventory of graffiti removal tools.
- Assists with execution of beautification programs, projects and events as needed.
- Assists with execution of Resource Recovery programs, projects and events as needed.
- Handles instances of illegal dumping and the proper disposal of materials.
- Handles and disposes of household hazardous waste at the City facility and satellite events.
- Assists with determining contamination of waste carts at residences.
- Operates various types of light and medium maintenance, construction, and/or repair equipment including but not limited to mowers, weed eaters, chain saws, power washers and other power tools.
- Assists with public garden beds:
- Weeding, pruning and planting plant material
- Adding mulch and compost
- Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
- Must be self-motivated, responsible, and reliable.
- Must possess solid organizational skills and be able to work with minimal supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
