- Provides front line support for IT service requests involving desktop PCs, mobile computers, servers, tablets, and software in a Windows environment;
- Serves as LAN administrator creating new users and maintaining accounts in Active Directory;
- Develops and maintains web software for the city’s website and intranet;
- Programs the city’s government access television channel video server;
- Performs PC repairs; takes calls, troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software problems;
- Meets with each department’s staff to update the city’s website;
- Installs hardware and software upgrades on PCs;
- Administers passwords, new accounts and shared disks on LAN;
- Performs tape back-ups and restores;
- Performs minor maintenance tasks on network servers;
- Performs maintenance tasks with SQL databases;
- Performs related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software; comprehensive knowledge in the operation, uses and capabilities of computer equipment; general knowledge of methods and techniques used to maintain and repair computer equipment; general knowledge of department policies and procedures; general knowledge of the functions and operation of City departments; some knowledge in the use of standard accounting software; ability to develop processing procedures for the performance of information services; ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and user department personnel.
Special Requirements
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information technology, or related field, and considerable experience with computer hardware and related software, SQL databases, and web programming.
