Description / Duties & Responsibilities
This position will work year-round with the Primetime Preschool and Camp Clarita programs developing and teaching age appropriate curriculum to cultivate young learners socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Primetime Preschool is a program that serves an average of 364 children per school year, providing academic readiness, while Camp Clarita serves approximately 3,200 campers during the summer at seven park locations throughout the community.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Creates academic, developmentally appropriate curriculum for Primetime Preschool during the school year
- Develops age appropriate recreation activities for Camp Clarita programs during the summer
- Supervises, mentors, and leads part-time staff and children
- Assists with hiring, developing, and training of Primetime Preschool and Camp Clarita staff
- Leads informative parent meetings regarding specific program goals and objectives
- Effectively addresses issues and concerns with children and parents as they arise
- Assists staff with preparing program specific materials when needed
- Accurately maintains various records, forms, logs, and reports and follows the City's retention policy
- Provides customer service via phone and in-person in regard to information about City programs and procedures
- Assists with planning and working special events at various locations
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for program changes or enhancements
- Assists in organization, set-up, and clean-up of facilities
- Purchases, tracks inventory and organizes program supplies

As a City of Santa Clarita public employee, you may be called upon to work as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) in the event of an emergency (in accordance with Government Code §§ 3100-3109). Before entering upon the duties of employment, all public employees, except those excluded by law, take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation set forth in the California
Constitution, declaring them to be Disaster Service Workers in time of need.
Compensation includes enrollment in California Public Employees' Retirement System as a replacement for Social Security plus a competitive benefits package. All appointments are made at step 1 of the salary range unless otherwise authorized by the City Manager.
