Description / Duties & Responsibilities
The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for a part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) Recreation Leader I to lead teens ages 13 to 17 in the Summer Teen Experience at the Canyon Country Community Center.
The Summer Teen Experience provides teens 13 to 17 with a summer filled with a variety of age-appropriate activities, including sports, creative projects, water games, field trips, and more! This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with teens, being creative, and making a difference in the community.
Summer programs run from June 16-August 8, 2025. Staff Training begins on June 9, 2025.
These positions are expected to work up to 40 hours per week based on the needs of the program; Monday-Friday with shifts between 7 : 00 a.m. and 6 : 30 p.m.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Organizes, plans, and works directly with leadership staff to implement the Summer Teen Experience and prepare activities for teens
- Supervises and leads teens in activities, such as creative projects, games, sports, water activities, and presentations
- Ensures a fun and safe environment for participants while maintaining teen and staff safety
- Assists in organization, set-up, and clean-up of facility
- Assists with decorating bulletin boards
- Greets patrons and participants and answers inquiries regarding programs
- Provides excellent customer service / positive interactions with campers, parents, other staff, and supervisors
- Effectively addresses issues and concerns with youth as they arise
- Maintains various forms, logs, reports, and inventory
- Performs first aid and responds to emergencies; reports incidents and accidents
- Attends meetings and training sessions, which will be valuable additions to your resume
- Follows and enforces City policies as they relate to the health, behavior, and safety of others
- Performs other duties, as directed by Community Services Supervisor, Coordinator, and / or Recreation Leaders II / III

PTS workers are at-will. Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 999 hours.
