Keeping Savannah beautiful by fostering healthy relationships with citizens is what we strive for. As a Code Compliance Training Officer, you will be responsible for planning, developing, executing trainings for the Code Compliance Officers under the direct supervision of a Code Compliance Manager.
Requires International Code Council (ICC) International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) certification.
Requires International Code Council (ICC) International Zoning Code (IZC) certification.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: A Code Compliance Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The Manager spot-checks completed work for compliance with policies and procedures.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include the International Property Maintenance Code, the Georgia Code, the Savannah Code, and city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied training and administrative duties. The need to perform various duties at the same time contributes to the complexity of the position.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the Department’s training programs. Successful performance in this position results in a well-trained workforce.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other city personnel, neighborhood leaders, property owners, court personnel, and the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide services, motivate personnel, and resolve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects, climbs ladders, and distinguishes between shades of color.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office or at inspection sites, where the employee may be exposed to hazardous or unhealthy environments. The work requires the use of masks, goggles, or gloves.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position has indirect supervision over Code Compliance Trainees.

- Develops and maintains the training program for all new and current Code Compliance Officers.
- Plans training for Code Compliance Officers as directed by the Director or a Code Compliance Manager.
- Conducts training for Code Compliance Officer Trainees as assigned.
- Leads training sessions to prepare Officers to achieve International Property Maintenance Code (IMPC) and International Zoning Code (IZC) certifications.
- Leads Department wide training events on topics identified by the Director or a Code Compliance Manager.
- Conducts training surveys and analysis to identify changing needs and to evaluate effectiveness of current programs and to develop and recommend new training programs.
- Performs duties as a Senior Code Compliance Officer for special projects as directed by the Director or a Code Compliance Manager.
- Maintains records of training activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
