What are the responsibilities and job description for the Path Sweeper position at City of Scottsdale?
Performs street cleaning and equipment maintenance operations to ensure the cleanliness of dedicated city streets and City-owned parking lots.
- A valid driver’s license with no major driving citations in the last 39 months is required.
- Individuals in this classification must possess a minimum Class B Arizona Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tank endorsement the time of hire or promotion date and maintain throughout tenure.
- Individuals in this classification must possess a Maricopa County Particulate Matter-10 (PM-10) Air Quality Standards Certification within six months of hire or promotion and maintain throughout tenure.
- As a condition of continued employment, an individual of this classification must maintain a valid Arizona CDL with appropriate endorsements and is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing to comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 382.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
- Operates safely and effectively a Motor Sweeper and sweeps assigned route.
- Communicates orally with customers, clients, or public while in the field.
- Maintains motor sweeper and performs simple mechanical repairs.
- Fuels, washes, greases, adjusts, changes brooms, adjust heads, etc.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed, materials used, time and equipment used.
- Detects needed equipment repairs. Uses common hand tools to make repairs.
- Work in small, cramped areas or sit for extended periods of time in motor sweeping equipment.
- Maintain constant vigilance to the surrounding area while performing collection duties.
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
- Climb up and down ladders.
- Operate and service equipment using visual and manual dexterity.
- Make precise hand-arm movements and maintain static hand-arm positions.
- Use fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust position of control mechanisms.
- Reach overhead, bend, and stoop repeatedly; works in rough, uneven pavement.
- Work in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat, wearing required safety clothing and equipment.
- Work holidays, weekends, and special events as needed.
- Subject to on-call, call outs and emergency sweeps (ie. storm clean-ups, accidents, etc.)
- Travel to/from meetings and various locations.
