What are the responsibilities and job description for the STREETS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR position at City of Scottsdale?
Operates medium duty equipment in the completion of assigned tasks on the work crews in the Street Operations section of the Public Works Department.
Education and Experience
- A High School or General Educational Development (GED) Equivalent.
- Any combination of training and experience equivalent to two years operating heavy construction vehicles.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to offer date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Note: Graduated driver's licenses are considered restricted.
- Must obtain and maintain, a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement within 12 months of start of position. Incumbents will be subject to unannounced drug and alcohol testing as required by law.
- Obtain within six months of hire or promotion and maintain through tenure Maricopa County Particulate Matter-10 (PM-10) Air Quality Standards Certification.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/service assignment.
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Qualifies for a DOT Medical Certification Card on a regular basis as determined by the authorizing DOT physician as appropriate to the job assignment.
- Operates a variety of light to medium duty equipment such as chain saws/trimmers, blowers, Kickbroom, rollers, skidsteers and backhoes.
- Performs light maintenance to equipment when needed.
- Operates kick broom to sweep uncurbed pavement edges on busy arterial streets.
- Operates water truck on dirt roads and alleys.
- Assists in loading and dumps loads from dump truck at landfills and other sites.
- Performs basic maintenance check of equipment; reports any mechanical or operational problems.
