Under the direction of a Public Works Maintenance Operations Supervisor or Lead, you’ll be responsible for a wide variety of field tasks, including Street and Roadway Maintenance, Storm Drainage System Upkeep, and Cross-Training Opportunities.

Performs a full range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of City streets, rights-of-way and storm drainage systems in accordance with all safety regulations, procedures and best management practices. Performs work according to specified work orders and completes all required documentation including daily logs and reports. E
Constructs and repairs concrete and asphalt sidewalks, patches roadways, repairs asphalt surfaces, sweep streets, remove graffiti, places lane buttons and other pavement or traffic markings. E
Regularly inspects, repairs, constructs and cleans storm drainage systems. Maintains culverts, ponds and ditches. Performs stormwater utility locates. Uses electronic devices to remotely record public asset maintenance and management system inspection information. E
Maintain rights-of-way, mow, edge, and apply pesticides and fertilizer to landscaped areas; repair, operate and maintain irrigation systems; plant and maintain flower beds, rake leaves, prune, clears brush and weeds from rights-of-ways, trims and removes trees as required. E
Utilizes and enforces proper safety precautions in all work performed; recognizes and reports safety hazards, traffic problems, equipment problems and emergency situations; performs traffic control activities as needed; follows safety regulations on all work zone and flagging sites, including placing barricades and cones. E
Responds as essential personnel during severe weather events to perform snowplowing and anti-icing operations. Responds to emergency call-out situations as necessary. E
May perform basic leadership responsibilities in the field directing seasonal employees within the scope of assigned duties. E
Performs related duties as required or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Methods, equipment, and materials used to maintain City streets, rights-of-way, and storm drainage systems.
• Health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and related construction equipment.
• Pruning of trees, cultivating, fertilizing, watering, and spraying of flowers, trees, shrubs, and turf.
• Maintenance and repair of irrigation systems.
SKILL IN:
• Performing, repair, maintenance and construction of City streets, pavement marking, traffic control, rights-of-way and storm drainage systems.
• Maintaining and repairing sprinklers and watering systems.
• Provide customer service when engaging with coworkers, residents, and the business community.
• Proper conduct.
ABILITY TO:
• Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Effectively communicate orally and written
• Observe health and safety regulations.
• Perform repetitive tasks.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License required by date of appointment.
- A satisfactory three-year driving abstract record, submitted prior to hire.
- Class A driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
- Valid Washington State Traffic Control Flagger card or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
- Valid First-aid certificate.
Preferred
- Washington Pesticide Applicator’s license or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
Salary : $72,929 - $93,355
