The full salary range for this position is $35.61 - $39.87 per hour.
New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $33.40 hourly. Current City employees’ starting rate of pay will be based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular position with full benefits. This is a Civil Service position eligible for overtime.

Job Responsibilities
- Generates correspondences such as narrative reports, contracts, invoices, forms, and charts using Microsoft Word and Excel for editing, formatting and proofreading.
- Composes routine and recurring communications under the general supervision of senior staff as subject matter experts.
- Reviews and maintains all department documents and assists with the inspection and audit process mandated by the department.
- Completes distribution of documents to South Precinct staff, police department, city, or outside agency entities or citizens as directed.
- Establishes and maintains files, logs, indexes and record keeping systems; prepares record retention cycles and maintains appropriate historical data.
- Records, posts, logs and cross references information from varied documents and records; interpret content to properly record or post documents and information using an established manual or computer system.
- Research records, prepares and assembles appropriate information for reports and updates data as necessary.
- Follows specific guidelines to duplicate and back up databases and other computer records.
- Reviews content of documents and data for accuracy and compliance in accordance with the specific program guidelines and policies.
- Reviews and evaluates required program or department documents for completeness and appropriateness; determines program eligibility; and processes documents according to guidelines.
- Provides assistance to senior management on special projects, involving gathering and compiling information or data of a specialized nature.
- Performs specialized administrative support functions in support of department or program activities requiring interpretation of program guidelines within established limits.
- Provides back-up coverage for the absences of other Administrative Specialist-II assigned to South Precinct administrative functions.
Required Qualifications:

- Experience answering multi-line phones.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, voicemail and intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of police functions, procedures, computer techniques and codes.
- Ability to work independently, follow moderately complex oral and written instruction, and change work priorities frequently.
- Obtain Washington Criminal Information Center (WACIC) and National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) certification within 6 months of employment.
- Pass a Seattle Police Department Background Investigation.
- Must perform work on-site. No remote work option is available for this position.
