From managing websites, social media, and email newsletters, to crafting compelling blogs and multimedia content, you’ll have the opportunity to craft how we share our story with the community.The Digital Media Specialist will : Develop and manage engaging online content, including writing, editing, and creating multimedia assets (audio, video, images) for platforms such as our social channels, website, blog, calendar, and email newsletters.Maintain and implement an editorial calendar for consistent messaging and content delivery.Lead all aspects of the department’s social media presence, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X, while tracking and reporting on metrics.Develop and implement social media campaigns aligned with our programs such as Hope Corps, Public Art, and Downtown Activation.Assist in the design and implementation of internal and external communication and outreach strategies.Design and coordinate digital and print advertisements.Project manage small-scale print projects, work on in-house graphic design, and collaborate with external designers and printers to create impactful collateral.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support community engagement efforts and align digital strategies with department goals.The top applicants will stand out if they : Have a talent for crafting compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences.Excel in digital storytelling, using platforms to amplify voices and foster community connections.Bring versatility with skills in graphic design, photography, and / or video editing.What They Will Bring : Experience and Knowledge : Familiarity with Seattle’s arts and cultural landscape.Experience in communication roles and / or graphic design.A strong background in developing and implementing social media marketing strategies, including analytics.Expertise in producing visual and written content for both web and print.Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and other website backends.Ability to : Bring an understanding of racial equity and social justice principles, institutionalized racism, and ability to apply knowledge to the work.Understand and value the perspectives of diverse cultural groups.Use excellent problem-solving skills.Anticipate needs, be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.Take initiative to reliably complete assignments in a self-directed manner.Use outstanding planning and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.Project manage, including balancing multiple timelines and competing demands.Use basic data analysis and visualization skills to inform storytelling.In addition to the qualities mentioned above, you will need to possess the below required qualifications (or a combination of education, training or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class) : Four years of experience in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field involving the preparation and distribution of public information materials.Or Three years of experience in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field involving the preparation and distribution of public information materials.Associate Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.Or Two years of experience in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field involving the preparation and distribution of public information materials.A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.Please note this job advertisement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. The full pay range for this step progression positions is $45.74 – $53.27 hourly. New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $45.74 hourly. Current City employees’ starting rate of pay will be based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions.This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Individual schedules will be based on agreement between the employee and their supervisor.First round interviews for this position are tentatively scheduled for the week of February 24 th and second round will take place the following week.
