The Seattle Municipal Court (SMC) provides a forum for people to resolve alleged violations of the law in a respectful, independent, and impartial manner. The Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in the financial oversight of the Seattle Municipal Court. This position reports to the Budget & Accounting Manager and is responsible for professional budget and financial analysis, including preparing and maintaining budgets, handling financial data, and advising management on financial issues. This role requires analytical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to support the fiscal integrity of the Court.
Financial Management
Providing support in the planning, coordination, and oversight for the development and defense of SMC’s budget
Prepare budget revisions based on changes in revenue and program levels.
Reconcile budgets and expenditures to reimbursements.
Provide support for accounts payable including purchase order creation and expense coding verification.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
Conduct financial analysis on grants and operating programs.
Prepare financial forecasts, cost projections, and financial reports for management.
Identify and advise on budget overruns, revenue shortfalls, and financial challenges.
Policy and Compliance
Collaborate with finance team to ensure adherence with financial policies.
Provide recommendations on financial policies, rate structures, and funding strategies.
Technical Support and Data Management
Develop and modify financial reports, queries, and spreadsheets.
Work with IT and financial systems personnel to enhance financial reporting capabilities.
Collaboration and Communication
Serve as a financial resource to management and departments.
Respond to financial inquiries from internal and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience: Two years of professional experience in budget management, financial analysis, accounting, or related work.
Equivalent education, training, and experience will be considered.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in public sector finance, budgeting, or grants management.
Familiarity with government financial reporting systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial forecasting skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Proficiency with PeopleSoft, Excel, Pivot Tables and have created financial reports.?

Salary
The full salary range for this role is $47.33 - $55.13 per hour.
Work Environment
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their manager.

A job offer is contingent upon successfully passing the court's background check. The background check includes a criminal history background review, fingerprinting, and reference checks.
This is a full-time position, working 40-hours per week.
