Position Overview:
The MyTrips program provides commuting options to 14,000 City of Seattle employees with a focus on reducing our environmental footprint by promoting non-driving options. It's located within the Transportation Options group which manages the City's Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs. We provide programs and policies that help reduce congestion and make progress towards City climate goals.
As an intern with us you will help develop and implement innovative processes and programs that support sustainable transportation options and help the city achieve climate goals for the MyTrips employee commute programs; support broader Transportation Options Group programs and other projects as needed. This intern will be supported by the MyTrips Program Manager and the Transportation Options group. Training will be available as needed. This internship is an opportunity to learn about many different groups and departments within the city and their functions/processes to support transportation options!

Educational Benefits:
The intern will develop skills and experience in project and program management including how to administer a commute focused benefit program at a large employer. They will manage projects from start to finish and learn and implement practical and transferable skills in business processes, behavior change, and communications. They will also learn about Transportation Demand Management (TDM), sustainability strategy, and transportation planning more broadly and have an opportunity to link thesis / practicum work to this position depending on interest.

Education:
Open to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited 2-year or 4-year educational program.
Preferred Areas of Study:
Urban Planning, Public Policy/Public Administration, Communications/Marketing, Business, Human Resources, Sustainability programs, or any other that provides the requisite combination of skills and experience.
Undergraduate students: Will need to maintain a 2.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.
Graduate students: Will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above throughout the internship
Minimum Qualifications:
Internship dates: Start date: Mid- June, 2025. End Date: June 23, 2026.
Schedule:
Intern will work up-to 20 hours/week while school is in session, up to 40 hours/week during school breaks. Work hours can be scheduled between 8am and 5pm Monday - Friday. May work weekends, may work evenings.
Salary:
Undergraduate students will be paid $21.78-$21.78 per hour.
Graduate students will be paid $26.71-$26.71 per hour.

Qualifications

- Excellent customer service, communications, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to perform basic quantitative analysis (Excel), and basic mapping skills (ArcGIS, Tableau, Google Maps and others).
- Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion and enthusiasm for sustainable, active modes of transportation.
- Ability to work graciously and effectively with the public.
- Ability to effectively self-manage time and workloads in a hybrid work environment.
- ArcGIS / intermediate mapping, project management/admin; web skills/ basic CMS.
- Experience with web development and presentation software as well as graphic design skills (e.g. Adobe Suite).
