Position Overview:
The Seattle Department of Transportation's (SDOT) Transit and Mobility Division is seeking an undergraduate or graduate-level intern to support the Shared Mobility Team. This position will focus support on the Shared Mobility programs (Bike, Scooter, and Car Share) as well as other initiatives as they arise. The Shared Mobility Team's objectives include:

You will have opportunities to gain skills in data collection and analysis, infrastructure planning, program management, program outreach, and in-depth, behind-the-scenes knowledge about shared micro-mobility (bike and scooter share) and car share policy.
Education:
Open to all undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited 2-year or 4-year educational program and graduate students who are enrolled in an accredited educational program.
Preferred Areas of Study:
Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Business, Marketing, Public Administration or related areas of study.
Undergraduate students: Will need to maintain a 2.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.
Graduate students: Will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.
Minimum Qualifications:
Internship dates: Start date: Mid-June 2025. End Date: June 23, 2026.
Schedule:
Intern will work up-to 20 hours/week while school is in session, up to 40 hours/week during school break. Work hours can be scheduled between 8am and 5pm Monday - Friday.
Salary:
Undergraduate students will be paid $21.78-$21.78 per hour.
Graduate students will be paid $26.71-$26.71 per hour.

Hybrid Work: Interns are expected to report to work onsite in Seattle consistent with departmental in-office minimums and as operational needs require for the duration of their internships with the City of Seattle. Therefore, interns are expected to have a Washington State address and reside in Washington State at the start and for the duration of their internships with the City of Seattle.

- Addressing the climate emergency by advancing transportation electrification and low-carbon travel options towards aggressive emissions reduction.
- Expanding new and improving existing shared mobility options for historically and currently disinvested communities and individuals.
- Implementing proactive strategy, policy, and pilots for shared mobility services and innovative technology and data solutions to prepare the department for the future of transportation.

- 50% - Micromobility Operations Support, including field audits gathering data on bike and scooters, as well as scoping and work order development for shared micromobility parking corrals.
- 30% - Program Support (research, policy support, website editing, data analysis) supporting the Shared Mobility Team.
- 20% - Outreach and Education efforts supporting shared micromobility (tabling at community events).

- Experience or education in transportation planning and/or emerging mobility policy.
