Shoreline Metro provides fixed route and paratransit public transit services to a metropolitan area of 70,000 including the cities of Sheboygan and Sheboygan Falls and the Village of Kohler. Annually, over 600,000 rides are provided covering over 500,000 service miles on 11 fixed routes and four school day trippers. Metro Connection, a division of Shoreline Metro, provides demand-responsive trips to individuals with disabilities or over 60 years of age. Over 34,000 rides are provided annually covering around 200,000 miles.
The Parking Utility maintains all public parking in downtown, Riverfront, South Pier and Heritage Square including on- and off-street metered, reserved parking and off-street free parking options. The Parking Utility maintains over 15 public parking lots, 20 blocks of on-street parking meters, 500 off-street parking meters, several acres of lawn maintenance at the Industrial Park, weed control in downtown, and flower planter watering and maintenance.
Shoreline Metro and the Parking Utility are under the authority of the Sheboygan Transit Commission.
Seasonal Parking Utility Maintenance & Grounds Workers perform essential day-to-day duties including daily upkeep and beautification of parking utility lots and surrounding areas in the parking districts. Focus of this position will be watering planters and baskets and weeding planters and flower beds. All work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and perform all work in an efficient, effective and safe manner and is an important part of the Parking Utility team.
Water planters and flower baskets within the Parking Utility parking districts;
Weed flower planters, baskets and beds;
Additional duties may include including lawn cutting, trimming, garbage removal, weed control, watering and mulching;
Clean up and perform light maintenance on equipment at the end of the work day;
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area for all department employees;
Fuel and wash equipment (as necessary);
Act as a professional representative of the City of Sheboygan;
Work in a team environment and be able to work with little or no supervision at times;
Report to work each workday on or before designated check-in time in proper attire including steel-toed safety boots, slacks or jeans, short or long-sleeved shirt and personal protective equipment (PPE);
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or GED; related vocational schooling or advanced degrees and training preferred.
Valid WI Class D driver’s license.
Must have a safe driving record.
Must be able to demonstrate an ability to read, understand, retain and recite information in training manuals, notices and standard operating procedures.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
Provide effective and courteous customer service.
Must have ability to act, make decisions, and justify action based on rational thought, good judgment, and logical thought.
Awareness of occupational hazards, environmental regulations and safe work practices.
Work Environment:
Repeated standing, bending, kneeling, reaching and pushing is required for this position. This position also requires the ability to safely lift up to 25 lbs and the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
