General Description
Performs manual work providing services to airport customers, assisting in the maintenance and operation of the airport, performing building and grounds maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Airport Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Assists aircraft staff and customers; provides directions, hotel information, rental assistance, transportation assistance, etc.; approves crew car usage for guests.
- Checks fuel for quality and contaminants; fuels aircraft as necessary.
- Answers phones; checks and takes messages; greets and assists general public visitors.
- Moves and parks aircraft in assigned locations with tractors and tow bars.
- Assists in keeping the interior and exterior of the terminal building clean of trash, dirt, and debris.
- Weeds flower beds and trims hedges.
- Patrols airfield to ensure security of aircraft and facilities;
- Performs the duties of Airport Supervisor in their absence.
Typical Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within one year of hire. Complete Fuel training as required. Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
Thorough knowledge of the airport equipment maintenance; general knowledge of safe aviation ground procedures; general knowledge of aviation fueling procedures and safety precautions; general knowledge of special procedures and processes in towing aircraft; ability to learn and understand Federal aviation regulations; ability to read and understand charts, maps, graphs, blueprints, and chemical safety procedures; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to perform manual labor, tolerate exposure to chemicals and fuels, and working in all weather conditions; ability to receive and follow oral and written instructions; ability to deal with the public in a courteous, tactful, patient, and friendly manner; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, associates, contractors, and the general public.
