Responsible for the developing, scheduling, directing, and implementing daily, seasonal, and special event program operations for a year-round citywide recreation program. Ensures set up of site and equipment, assists in scheduling and conducting activities, perform customer service, and developing and presenting program reports.

- Prepares and coordinates a wide variety of public events, classes, sports events, sports leagues and/or activities, aquatics programs which includes organizing staffing, procuring supplies, scheduling entertainment, setting up sites, monitoring events and/or performing other related activities. Obtain any necessary contracts, COI documents when working with vendors.
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and directing a diversified year-round, city-wide recreation program and special events. Reviews program areas implements changes or new programs to meet recreational needs of the community
- Performs a variety of clerical activities in support of office operations, which may include entering information into databases, cashiering, answering phones, filing, maintaining calendars of events, and/or performing other related activities
- Registers participants for programs, receives program fees, makes change, and balances cash drawer, prepares bank deposits. Maintains accurate records of registration, participation, and revenues and expenses in written report form
- Effectively resolves grievances and errors; performs or assists subordinates in performing duties; Communicates problems and/or concerns to supervisor
- Communicates official plans, policies, and procedures to staff and the general public; Ensure policies, procedures, and rules are strictly enforced
- Ability to assist in marketing events for public through flyers, press releases, social media, and City website

PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
Serves on various employee or other committees as assigned.Education and Experience:
- Graduation from High School or GED equivalent; and
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a parks and recreation program; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of public recreation, parks and programs, office practices, cash handling, record keeping methods and procedures, rules and regulations and tournament bracketing governing various competitive athletic games such as softball, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc., tools and techniques of teaching music, drama, crafts, sports, or other specialties involved
- Skill in customer service, computer software applications and first aid
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement recreation programs; ability to coordinate, analyze, and utilize a variety of reports and records; work safely, handle cash, perform basic bookkeeping, maintain a safe environment, communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
- Incumbents in this position are frequently required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
