POSITION SUMMARY:
The Athletics Coordinator for SBVPA assists with managing sports programs, leagues, and events for all ages and skill levels. This includes supporting daily operations, coordinating tournaments, and ensuring efficient use of facilities. SCHEDULE: The Athletics Coordinator will work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, to accommodate programs and events.
Pay Rate: $16.00/hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in planning and coordinating sports leagues, tournaments, and events for various age groups and skill levels.
- Oversee facility use and ensure equipment is maintained and ready for programs.
- Recruit, train, and support coaches, referees, and volunteers.
- Manage scheduling and logistics for practices, events, and facility usage.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for participants, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Assist in managing program budgets and tracking expenses.
- Support marketing efforts, including updates to the website and social media, to promote programs and increase participation.
- Maintain accurate records of program data, participation, and feedback.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and SBVPA policies.
NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in sports program coordination, event management, or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Experience working with volunteers, coaches, and community organizations is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of sports program operations and event coordination.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership ability to motivate and manage volunteers and staff.
- Effective problem-solving skills and quick decision-making.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media; website management experience is a plus.
- Strong customer service focus to ensure a positive participant experience.
- Attention to detail in tracking data, schedules, and budgets.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:
- Valid Driver’s license required.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or the ability to obtain upon hire.
EQUIPMENT:
The Athletics Coordinator will use office equipment (computers, phones, printers), sports equipment for program activities (balls, nets, goals), audio/visual tools for events, and facility maintenance tools for setup and safety.
