DEFINITION
Under direction from the Transportation & Senior Services Supervisor, coordinates, organizes and conducts daily operations of Senior Center activities and implementation of nutrition and transportation services; prepares and maintains senior service records and documents; gathers information and conducts research on a variety of nutrition, senior programs and transportation related issues; makes policy and programmatic recommendations; provides work direction to senior program, center facility and transportation services staff; performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Supervision is provided by the Senior Services Supervisor. Supervision is exercised over division staff including part-time recreation staff, volunteers, Title V workers and transportation drivers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate organizes and assists in the implementation of Senior Center operations and the implementation of Nutrition Program, Home Delivery Program, and Transportation services including Dispatching (Ecolane System); assists in the development and coordination of policies, procedures, and practices; develops and maintains records on senior and transportation community needs; recommends improvements to senior and transportation services.
- Prepares and maintains transportation and nutrition services records; ensures compliancy with the Los Angeles County Elderly Nutrition Program and any other grant based programs; conducts research on a variety of senior and transportation related issues; prepares written and oral reports; drafts and develops a variety of reports, summaries and documents related to transportation and the senior nutrition program; maintains calendar of events for senior services, elderly nutrition program and special transportation needs.
- Schedules transportation appointments, assigns, monitors, and dispatches trips to assigned van drivers; coordinates and schedules assigned routes and monitors daily driver performance; dispatches drivers upon requests to transport senior citizens, disabled residents, and children; trains new drivers on procedures, routes, and wheelchair operations. Ensure that drivers possess current driver’s licenses and up-to-date medical certifications.
- Monitors and assist to prepare Senior Center facility maintenance work requests; ensures facility is clean and equipment is in operating condition; arranges for room set-up for events and programs.
- Monthly updates to the Senior Services and Transportation Webpage.
- Organizes and plans senior activities and senior day trips by selecting venue and coordinates participation fees; determines and secures needed personnel, equipment, and material for program activities.
- Coordinates and oversees senior services special events including all luncheons.
- Drives passenger vans and provide transportation to senior citizens, disabled residents and children as needed.
- Prepares and submits correspondence to staff and the community on senior services events and programs.
- Participate in training sessions as required to ensure compliance with certifications and contracts related to grants.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

- Ability to provide information on transportation and senior nutrition program requirements, compliance with City, County, Metro and vehicle code requirements and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Two (2) years of responsible experience in Senior Programs or Transportation Services and one-year supervisory experience in program and services.
Education:
Associates degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record is required.
- Certification of first aid and CPR training is required within three (3) months of employment.
