Deputy Court Clerk
Position Overview
The municipal court clerk performs a variety of clerical and administrative support tasks to support the operations of the municipal court. The Deputy Court Clerk works under the direction of the Court Clerk and Municipal Judge while court is in session.
Essential Job Functions:
- Preservation, maintenance and dissemination of all records originating out of the municipal court.
- Collection of all fines and fees assessed in the municipal court
- Accurate record keeping of fine and fee payments.
- Attends all court sessions on scheduled court dates to provide assistance to the Judge, Prosecutor, attending attorneys and defendants.
- Record keeper for all municipal court orders, judgements, dockets and minutes.
- Determines what information is a public record and can be released without redaction.
- Assigns court dates and payment plans using guidelines established by the judge.
- Treats all employees, residents, and guests with respect and courtesy.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains confidentiality with regards to all court files.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good use of verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with ability to apply in routine situations.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in criminal justice or public administration preferred.
